Cashback Matchunlimited dollar-for-dollar match of your first-year cash back
$0annual fee
How it earns
Discover lists 5% cash back at different places each quarter, up to the quarterly maximum when you activate, and 1% on all other purchases. Calendar quarters begin January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1.
Who it fits
- You will activate the 5% categories each quarter and spend in them.
- You want a no-fee card and expect to earn meaningful cash back in your first year, since Discover matches it.
- You like a 0% intro APR period on purchases and balance transfers.
Who should skip it
- You do not want to track quarterly categories. Spend outside them earns 1%.
- You want a fixed up-front bonus. There is no spend-and-earn bonus on this page, only the first-year match.
- You carry a balance. After the intro period the APR is 17.74% to 26.74% variable.
Worth knowing
Discover's page shows Cashback Match on all cash back earned in the first 365 days, added within two billing periods. There is no annual fee. The intro APR is 0% for 15 months, then 17.74% to 26.74% variable. Discover notes that the offer may differ if you leave the page.
The advice on this page is general. It does not know your credit history, income or goals. Pay the balance in full each month, since interest costs more than any bonus is worth.
